JOB GOAL: To provide comprehensive technical support and expertise for all events at the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality technical environment for renters and patrons, and to facilitate the technical needs of school district productions and events at other locations as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Technical Support & Renter Experience:
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for renters, understanding their technical requirements and providing expert guidance and solutions.
Collaborate with renters to develop and implement technical designs (lighting, sound, rigging, etc.) that meet their artistic and budgetary needs.
Ensure that renters have a clear understanding of the CPAC's technical capabilities and limitations.
Provide training to renters and their technical staff on the safe and proper use of CPAC equipment.
Oversee the setup, operation, and strike of all technical elements for rentals and school district events.
Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively to minimize disruptions for renters.
Equipment Management & Maintenance:
Maintain all CPAC technical equipment (lighting, sound, rigging, video, etc.) in safe and optimal working condition, performing regular inspections and preventative maintenance.
Manage inventory of technical supplies and equipment, recommending purchases and replacements as needed within budgetary guidelines.
Research and recommend upgrades to technical systems to enhance the CPAC's capabilities and appeal to renters.
Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and organization of all technical equipment. Ability to make basic repairs to technical equipment as needed.
Supervision & Training:
Recruit, train, and supervise student and community technical assistants, providing them with hands-on experience and fostering their interest in technical theater.
Coordinate the work of contracted technical personnel and ensure they adhere to CPAC policies and safety procedures.
Provide technical training to other CPAC staff and volunteers as needed.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce all safety regulations and procedures related to the technical operation of the CPAC, ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, renters, and patrons.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant safety standards and best practices in technical theater.
Budget & Planning:
Assist the CPAC Manager in developing the technical equipment budget.
Provide input on technical requirements for potential rentals and events during the scheduling process.
Plan and coordinate technical aspects of future CPAC upgrades and improvements.
Other Duties:
Provide technical support for school district events at other locations as required.
Serve as a technical resource for school productions and student groups.
Maintain professional development through workshops and training to stay current with industry standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CPAC Manager.
Must be capable on a continuous basis of standing, walking, stair climbing, reaching, handling and griping without difficulty
Must be capable on frequent basis of bending, stooping, pushing/pulling heavy objects, lifting/carrying objects up to 50 pounds
Must be capable on an occasional basis of climbing ladders, driving light equipment, and working at heights up to 30 feet
Specific qualifications include:
A Bachelor's degree in technical theater, stage management, lighting design, sound engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Minimum of three years of experience in technical direction, stage management, and/or lighting and sound operation in a professional theater or performing arts venue.
Strong working knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, sound systems, rigging, and stagecraft.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining relevant technical equipment and software.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, lighting plots, and sound plots.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on safety and customer service.
Experience in training and supervising technical staff and volunteers.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively and efficiently.
Flexibility to frequently work evenings and weekends, as required.
